The Instituto de Radioproteção e Dosimetria (IRD ) and the Brazilian Medical Physics Association organized the XX Brazilian Congress of Medical Physics and the International Radiation Protection Symposium in Medicine

The two joint events was held between 12 and 15 of August, 2015 in the auditorium of the University of the Rio de Janeiro State (UERJ).
This joint event was dedicated to discuss issues related to the safe use of ionizing radiation in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine, encompassing the radiological protection of the patient, the professionals involved and the general public, as well as quality control procedures radiators, radiation beams and images.
Eleven very interesting and informative keynote presentations have been delivered, at least 102 oral presentations have been given in different sessions.
The poster session also offered exciting studies in various domains.
Among the invited lectures given by experts from different countries were: The Risk of second cancer after radiotherapy by Francesco D´Errico, CT Scans & Cancer risk by Army Berriggton de González, Special techniques in dosimetry: MOSFEST by Joanna Cygler, Improving LDR brachytherapy and TLD measurements using MC techniques by David Rogers and Nuclear Oncology Applications by Michel G Stabin.
